An Analysis of Students’ Ability in Writing Recount Text at The Second Grade Students of SMK N 9 Padang

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dan kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam menulis teks recount. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI Tata Boga 2 SMK N 9 Padang tahun pelajaran 2022/2023 yang berjumlah 35 orang. Kelas tersebut dipilih karena mereka telah belajar tentang teks recount. Instrumen penelitiannya adalah tes menulis dan wawancara yang diadaptasi dan diadopsi dari (Suryani, 2020). Peneliti menggunakan tes menulis untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dan wawancara untuk mengetahui kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada skor menulis teks recount 18 siswa (51%) berkategori sangat kurang, 7 siswa (20%) berkategori kurang baik, 8 siswa (23%) berkategori sedang, dan 2 siswa (23%) berkategori sedang. siswa atau (6%) berkategori sangat baik. Skor penilaian ini diadopsi dari Brown dalam Huda dan Rahadianto (2019). Peneliti menemukan bahwa rata-rata hasil nilai menulis siswa secara keseluruhan adalah 60 dimana siswa dikategorikan sangat buruk dalam menulis teks recount.
